The final buzzer is where a lot of sports games stop. For FieldGoal, I wanted it to be where another part of the game starts.

A RESULT
IS ONLY THE BEGINNING.

A simulation can tell me that a team won by seven points. That is useful. But a basketball world starts to feel different when the result has consequences beyond the scoreboard.

The standings move. A coach feels pressure. A player's reputation changes. Fans become louder. A rivalry gets another chapter. Another franchise wins somewhere else while I am busy with my own game.

Those are not separate systems to me. They are different expressions of the same world.

“The simulation creates the event. The media layer gives the event a point of view.”

THAT IS WHERE
OFF THE COURT LIVES.

Off The Court is built around that idea. It is not meant to read database fields back to the player. It should interpret what the simulation has produced and ask the more interesting question: why does this matter?

A standout performance can become a conversation about form. A poor result can become pressure on a coach. A surprise contender can change the playoff picture. A developing rivalry can make an ordinary fixture feel completely different the next time it appears.

The broadcast therefore becomes another window into the same save. The world on the court and the world talking about the court are connected.

ONE VOICE
IS ENOUGH — FOR NOW.

I am deliberately keeping the current presentation focused. Matt Strobel is the only analyst for now, which gives the show a clear editorial centre rather than pretending the media organisation is already bigger than the underlying universe.

Matt's role is calm and analytical: contextualise the result, challenge overreaction and notice the detail that the box score does not explain. As FieldGoal develops, the media layer can grow naturally around him instead of introducing personalities simply to fill a page.

THE WORLD
SHOULD OUTLIVE YOU.

The bigger ambition is simple. I want to finish a game, leave the screen and still feel like the league is moving. Another franchise should be playing. Another player should be changing. Another argument should be developing.

That is what makes a long career interesting. You are not just managing a team. You are entering an institution with memories, rivalries, expectations and people who were there before you.

If FieldGoal can make that feeling work, then Off The Court is doing its job. It is not an extra feature sitting beside the simulation. It is the voice of the world the simulation created.
